21/5/2014 Phillida Gili, Che Golden, Dianne Hofmeyr and Alex Milway are all to appear at the Isle of Wight Festival in October

We are delighted to announce that four of our authors will be appearing at the Isle of Wight Literary Festival. The festival is in its third year, and is being held from 16th - 19th October at Norwood House and around Cowes. Plenty of great authors are appearing from the world of adult and children's fiction, as well as non-fiction.

10/5/2014 THE SCREAMING STAIRCASE has been voted onto the Look Hoo's Reading Book Award

The first book in Jonathan Stroud's Lockwood & Co series has been selected for the Look Hoo's Reading Award list, voted for by Hertfordshire school students. THE SCREAMING STAIRCASE is in good company, with books by Patrick Ness and Malala Yousafzai also on the list.

Dianne has compiled her list of the 10 Best Giraffe Books for Children on the Guardian Children's Books website. Of course, there is Di's beautiful new picturebook illustrated by Jane Ray, Zerraffa Giraffa, which is out now with Frances Lincoln.

14/4/2014 Diana Wynne Jones Memorial Conference Hosted by Seven Stories and Newcastle University on 5th & 6th September 2014

The International conference will be held over two days - the first at Seven Stories National Centre for Children's Books, and the second at Newcastle University - and welcomes scholars and fans of Diana to attend.

Diana's sister, Ursula Jones, also a children's writer, will talk about their childhood, her personal recollections of Diana, and the experience of completing Diana's manuscript THE ISLANDS OF CHALDEA (which is out now).

The two-day conference will see speakers from the world of children's literature and publishing come together to reflect on Diana's life and look critically at her work.

Visitors will have the opportunity to view the Diana Wynne Jones collection, housed at Seven Stories, and there will be a screening of the Oscar-Winning Studio Ghibli film of HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE.

30/3/2014 THE SCREAMING STAIRCASE chosen for Cooperative Children's Book Center Choices 2014

Jonathan's THE SCREAMING STAIRCASE has included in this year's CCBC Choices. The list is compiled by Kathleen T. Horning, Merri V. Lindgren and Megan Schliesman with Emily Townsend. Based in the US, and established in 1963, the CCBC is a vital gathering for books, ideas and expertise, and is committed to identifying excellent literature for children and adolescents.
