Phillida Gili has illustrated, and sometimes written, a wide variety of children's books: they include Sir John Betjeman's only book for children, ARCHIE AND THE STRICT BAPTISTS, picture books by Nina Bawden and Jenny Nimmo and a bestselling pop-up version of THE NUTCRACKER - still selling since 1992, a record for a novelty book.

Her charming illustrations have also been used for calendars, cards and stationery by Laura Ashley, the National Trust, and for advertising. Recently, she contributed to the Folio Society edition of THE COMPLETE TALES OF HANS ANDERSEN commemorating Andersen's Bicentenary.

In 2006 Bloomsbury published her new pop-up version of CINDERELLA and Boxer Books brought out a special
25th Anniversary edition of her classic story THE LOST EARS, hailed by Sir John Betjeman as 'worth keeping for a lifetime'
