Pat Thomson has been bringing young people and books together for many years, as an English teacher, lecturer in Children's Literature and in her work with children's reading groups. She is Honorary Vice-President of the Federation of Children's Book Groups and was formerly Professional Studies Librarian at Nene College, Northampton.

She now writes full time and is known for her outstanding early reading books, in particular the SHARE A STORY series, and her contributions to the JETS and OXFORD LITERACY WEB series.

She also writes picture books, including ones illustrated by
Emma Chichester Clark and Jan Ormerod. DRAT THAT FAT CAT, illustrated by Ailie Busby, won the Practical Preschool Award in 2003. Her latest, IT'S SO UNFAIR, is a collaboration with Jonathan Allen, published by Andersen Press.
