Strange Exchange by Pat Thomson

Age range: 10 to 13 years

Pascal is an alien, sent by his superiors to monitor life on Earth. Substituting himself for a foreign exchange student, he is unwittingly cared for by Mike and his family.

However odd his behaviour, it is accepted by them, because that is what they expect of a foreigner. Events take an interesting turn when Mike discovers the truth and the real French student turns up.

Pat Thomson wittily highlights the absurdity of people's prejudices towards a culture that is not their own, in this delightful comedy.

“Excellent wit and humour...had me laughing out loud”

THE JUNIOR BOOKSHELF

"Amidst hilarious misunderstandings, the change in assumptions about our backward species, made by his seniors through Pascal's wide-eyed acceptance of all he sees, is beautifully done...
A super little book"
ARMADILLO

“A delightful read...it proves without doubt that life can be serious yet very funny”
