Theresa Breslin

Theresa Breslin won the Carnegie Medal in 1995, with her highly acclaimed novel WHISPERS IN THE GRAVEYARD. Since her first novel, SIMON'S CHALLENGE, won the Kathleen Fidler Award, she has established herself as one of the most exciting British writers for young people.

Her work has sold in more than ten languages and has been dramatised for TV and Radio. She is the author of the popular and funny DREAM MASTER books and of REMEMBRANCE, an epic tale of youth in World War I.

Previously a librarian, Theresa was awarded lifelong Honorary Membership of the Scottish Library Association for distinguished services to Children's Literature and Librarianship. She lives in her native Scotland with her family.

Her latest novel PRISONER OF THE INQUISITION missed out on the winning the Carnegie Medal but the book was voted favourite by young people shadowing the award. 90,000 children across the UK took part in the Carnegie Shadowing process.

Theresa has also been shortlisted for the Northern Ireland Book Award 2011, the UKLA Children's Book Award 2011, and was also winner of the Young Quills Prize 2011.
